[COMPLETED; Short Story for the BEAT GIRL PROJECT] After a bloody encounter in the school library, Keira Denver, the school's alpha girl, is given the worst punishment she could ever think of: manage the school's music band of weird boys and groom them for the upcoming battle of the bands. With nothing but fashion and a great talent for words, she faces her greatest challenge: understanding music. Keira struggles with the boys, especially the vocal, Pete, who doesn't like the idea of a girl messing up the band. Despite Pete's unwelcoming yet interesting personality, Keira finds herself having fun and growing to love being around sound and lyrics as she spends more time with the boys and their music in an old basement. Adding to her dilemma is her boyfriend Drew who hates the band and the people at school who are starting to see her in a different way (which she greatly fears). As the competition comes near, she is torn between doing what she loves and being the girl she worked hard to be and everybody admires.
