Something Lost Someone Looking
I don't know how nobody else has noticed my heart leaping into his hands every time I look at him. And he just holds onto it, puts it in his pocket and carries it around. Like something he could forget about or misplace, something he hardly notices. Because he hasn't noticed. At least not as far as I can tell. If one day he does notice, if he reaches into his pocket one day to find my warm, beating heart sitting there, what would he do with it? Would he politely give it back, like something he borrowed and forgot to return? Would he hold onto it, and place it near his heart, to keep safe? Or maybe, he would drop it in disgust, and stamp it like a bug.
(I do not own 'Carry On' or anything of the such, it is a wonderful novel written by the lovely Rainbow Rowell.)
