N-SO 01 RS is the only name they ever gave him. Killing is the only thing he was designed to do.
In a modern supercity of wealth and opportunity, only the best corporations can compete for dominance in the burgeoning robotics industry. He is just another asset in the game, meant to dispatch anyone who stands in the way of success.
Cleo Dare sees a different side to gleaming lights of Axis Mundi. Living in one of the boroughs in the outskirts of the city, where the buildings are brick and iron and lay in the shadows of skyscrapers, she watches people suffer beneath the business regime. Their robots have made human labor expensive, inefficient, and obsolete. More and more fall victim to neglect everyday. Disease is rampant, and those who still have jobs are either paid meagerly for their efforts or overworked to earn their keep. Jack Vega, Cleo's surly neighbor, is one such example.
When N-SO 01 RS appears at Cleo's apartment, bloodied and broken, both of their worlds collide. It becomes apparent that this corporate cyborg is as much of a victim of the rich and powerful as any. As N-SO 01 RS, nicknamed Enzo, rediscovers what it means to be human, Cleo's brother warns of a new direction of robotics that not only threatens the lives of those in the boroughs, but questions the value of humanity. Together, Cleo, Enzo, and their ragtag team of lower class misfits must fight to protect themselves, their homes, and what it means to truly be human in a world of machinations.
