❝i have something to believe in, now that i know you believed in me❞

Lydia Weatherly's favorite fairytale was the one about the little mermaid. She had always loved how the mermaid risked everything to be with her beloved, only to be turned into sea foam because he did not return her affections. She thought of it as a life lesson: don't give everything of yourself to someone because they might not love you back.

Her grandmother, Polly, had also often told her stories about a place called Narnia. Polly had been there once, with Digory Kirke, when she was just a girl. Lydia enjoyed hearing those stories, and desperately wished to go to Narnia, if only for a second. Her elder brother, however, had always spent his time pining over a girl whose name he didn't even know.

(Not that she was much better, as she fancied the girl's younger brother.)
