In ninth grade, I avoided him.
In tenth grade, I hated him.
In eleventh grade, I was hated by him.
In twelfth grade, I let him destroy me.
Humans and their obsession to fit in with society's expectations is absolutely ridiculous. What's the big deal with being on top of the social pyramid? Or torturing ourselves to be considered as attractive? Those were some of the questions that went through her head, but the most important one was; why did they choose to hate on those who weren't exactly perfect?
Twenty-two-year-old Cade, a girl who had just graduated from college, had been bullied all four years of high school by a boy who was known to be perfect. He was a tall, handsome football player with a mean attitude; while she was a clumsy, socially awkward teenager who didn't really care about being popular. He had girls swooning over him, and was friends with anyone who was on the same level as the social pyramid as him; while she didn't have many friends, and the ones she did, she wasn't close to.
She was bullied because she wasn't the ideal girl, and was considered a 'loser' by the people around her. But she had grown up now, and had tried her best to move on from her past. It wasn't exactly easy, because as always, the world was turning against her and the boy she had been trying to forget was thrown back into her life.
Now they must put aside their past and learn how to deal with each other like adults. After all, they were getting married.
