The day Vasilisa Hedge was murdered for witchcraft, she left behind three things: a bloodthirsty village, a magickal daughter, and a soul-stealing doll.

Now Karina, Vasilisa's daughter, is grown up and accused of witchcraft herself. Banished from her village to the Forest of the Dead along with Hans Pinkerton, the imperious son of a warlock, they embark on an epic Hansel and Gretel story to their freedom. Along their way they discover the dangerous Fountains of Youth and Animalia, the darkness of night and the terror it brings, Baba Yaga, who attempts to enslave them, and the magick that threatens to destroy their very souls.

A fairytale retelling of Vasilisa the Beautiful, Hansel and Gretel, Baba Yaga, and Brother and Sister.

Amazing cover made by @seventhstar.

So I read the first chapter and I really liked it, but I was wondering what does the birthmark look like.

Such a beautiful and ghastly prologue seen in professional writing.

I think you may want "family" or even "offspring" here, though the latter seems too distant. Brethren is a much more distant association meaning members of a group or brotherhood. I think you're avoiding saying children here, as you just did but I'd reserve it for this vulnerable moment. #NBR

I'm sorry to nitpick but you spelled magical wrong :3 I love how your writing the summary of what happen though, it keeps me intrigued

For some reason I felt as if I had started this story but this feels now...it resonates of the crucible to me, but I enjoy the fresh perspective. You've made a strong and easy villian as well.
