And to Emma Lucas, an aspiring governess of merchant class, Vampirology is merely a pastime indulged by crackpot eccentrics; not to be taken seriously by level-headed skeptics like herself. She would require proof. All the usual cliches, of course:
There would need to be a brooding castle on a hill, for one thing, and an enigmatic master of that eerie edifice, for another.
But there is such a place; there is such a creature. And when He wants you to believe... you will.
