He slowly walked toward the bed and when he was just a foot away from Deiana, he lifted his arm and pointed the gun to her heart.
"R-richard?" she said in a trembling voice, and he had to close his eyes for a second.
"She knows your name," Ronaldo remarked, sounding surprised and curious.
"A stupid slip," Richard said. "But it doesn't matter now..."
Dei looked at him with a hurt and betrayed expression that quickly turned into fear when his thumb adjusted the safety on the gun. Her eyes started welling with tears, and she looked at him questioningly.
He was breathing hard and he had to bite his lip as he felt his own tears coming. "I'm sorry," he whispered and then pulled the trigger once. He registered the terrified scream she let out before shooting four more consecutive rounds... and then another, his vision blurring from his tears.
"Deiana..." he softly called, his voice filled with anguish.
He captures her with orders to kill but ends up seeing her as more than just his hostage.
As he finds his heart slowly getting captivated, he gets torn between keeping her alive and finishing the job that he had been bound to do.
She was a lonely girl, constantly begging for her father's attention. She had been thirsty for care and compassion for a long time and didn't expect to find it from her captor.
As she finds herself falling, she tries to think of a way to escape her death and rescue him from his dark self in the process too.
