Jack heard fierce barking behind them. He turned, seeing two dark figures of a man and a canine. The crows' cries started to pick up, not helping lift the mood any further. The dog jumped up with a bark, bolting towards the group of friends. While the group retreated, Jack was once again frozen in place. Every instinct told him to flee, but his fear wasn't letting him.
"Jack!" Jack heard Signe's voice call out to him, the others' voices mingled in. The dog jumped up, slamming it's paws against his chest and shoving him to the ground. His head hit the ground harshly, causing darkness to engulf his vision.
