Stockholm [SLOW UPDATES]
"This'll be easy," he whispered, scoffing.
Niko lifted himself from the wall and left the room. The man sent one last look at me before following him out the room soon after. They closed the heavy door with a loud bang. I could hear the lock turning on the other side.
Instead of being trapped in darkness, a single, sickening fluorescent light flickered on. For the first time in forever, I could actually see the entire room. I pushed up on my knees, stumbling as I stood up.
I took my newfound freedom as an opportunity to stretch my muscles and familiarize myself with my environment. My eyelids felt heavy from a lack of food and sleep.
An old, wooden door lead into the dingy bathroom. I glanced into the dirty mirror. Strands of oily hair stuck every which way. Pale lines ran from my eyes and down my neck from crying. My eyeliner and mascara has somewhat stained my eyelids and eye bags black. I twisted the rusted metal tap, making lukewarm water flow from the faucet. I vigorously scrubbed my face to remove any and all makeup left behind from the worst day of my life. I removed all of the bobby pins and elastics from my hair and placed them on the side of the sink. I pulled my knotted hair into a low ponytail. The ends had become frizzy and untamed from the lack of ironing. Staring back into my reflection once more, I started to sob.
This is what my life had become.
