A Gothic short story of 1,000 words for the @fright profile 'Gothic Gloom' short story contest. I was inspired by the works of Ann Radcliffe (I have just completed a 10,987 word dissertation on her and the Gothic genre she helped define in the eighteenth century), as well as Victor Hugo's 'Notre-Dame de Paris' (Hunchback of Notre Dame) and Matthew Lewis's 'The Monk'.
