Ellison is a self-proclaimed Super Hacker. At 23, she's managed to successfully key punch, aka cheat, her way through life without anyone noticing. Logically the next step is to start an underground computer architect business for herself. Selling test answers to students, creating flawless fake IDs, and digging up dirt on people for blackmail is a virtual cake-walk for Ellison. But what starts off as a simple get-rich-quick scheme quickly turns dark when an anonymous client begins sending her cryptic tasks in exchange for huge payouts. Though for a while it seems like the perfect life for Ellison. Secluded. Behind a computer. Her only friends the unknown usernames across an online board of other so-called Super Hackers.
But when she finishes one particular task, building an unnamed thermionic system for an unnamed organization, she finds that her entire identity has been deleted, including her 'huge payout' bank account. Her anonymous benefactor stops contacting her, and no matter how many tricks she tries, she keeps hitting one firewall after another. As panick and hopelessness begin to consume her, she starts getting messages from someone who seems to know exactly what she's going through. Someone who wants to help her get her life back. But can she trust another unknown username, or will it only ruin her reality further?
