As he leaned over with his arms folded, resting on the table in front of my computer, I took a second to admire the way his slightly messy hair fell in front of his face and the way the back of his black jeans hugged his ass. He glanced up at me, knowing I'd been staring at him, and I felt my face heat up.
"I'm gonna give you fifteen minutes to grab a bag with some spare clothing, your toothbrush and whatever necessities and we're leaving," Joey said, walking back into the living room and plopping down on the couch.
"If I go with you-"
"When you go with me," he corrected. "You will not take your phone or computer because they can be traced and you now have fourteen minutes."
When protection and passion collide.
Jessica Turner is your average B+ Psychology major, currently studying at the University of Massachusetts. Her life revolves around decorating her small one bedroom Boston apartment and never having enough free time due to work. Jess thought she had everything planned out. She was going to finish undergraduate school and pursue her PhD. She enjoyed her calm quiet lifestyle and never expected that to change. Then a handsome stranger named Joey Cavannaugh shows up at her door demanding Jess come with him immediately, leaving her normal life behind. Jess has no clue who Joey is and certainly wouldn't trust a random stranger begging her to skip town; but she soon discovers Joey has a very good reason for her to run away with him.
Joey Cavannaugh has been on the Boston police force for three years. His number one priority has always been helping people. When the department doesn't take an eminent threat seriously, Joey takes matters into his own hands, breaking rules and risking his career to protect a woman he doesn't even know. But will saving her cost him everything?
