He smirked and fulfilled my request. To be honest, I was a little taken aback since he fulfilled my request, but he knew that he did it because my parents were actually the ones who gave the school it's reputation. So the least he could do to 'repay' them is to fulfil my requests

                              Would make more sense and is better English compared to the unnecessarily long and over explanatory sentence you put
