And that's when I see her, entranced by the book in her hand as she mindlessly chews on the straw of her iced coffee. Her long, dark locks cascade messily down the length of her back and cover the side of her face, blocking my view. On cue, she runs her fingers through her hair as she lifts her gaze from the book on the table. Her intense gaze meets mine and I feel my breath catch in my throat as I realize I had been staring. A small smile graces her plump lips and I bashfully drop my eyes to the coffee in my hands, unable to withstand the weight of her eye contact. I swear my cheeks are on fire as I peek back over at the long-haired beauty to find her attention once again on the worn pages in her grasp.
