Meet Jessica Parker, a relatively normal freshman with a deep, personel secret. She's deaf, deciding to keep the handicap a secret to keep her independence and dignity. Soon she finds keeping her secret is a lot more trouble than it's worth, including a broken heart, lost friends, and feeling isolated from the sounds around her. Jessica's only true friends are a blind orphan named Jamie, who lives with Jessica and her mother, and Aurora, a deaf girl in Jessica's school.
One summer day Jamie and Jessica stumble upon an injured skateboarder named Jacob, a cute funny playboy who has eyes for Jessica. Jessica feels the same way, and decides to tell Jacob her secret, but just before she does, Jacob makes a remark that makes her go silent. His remark is he won't date handicapes.
Now mix in prejudice principals, two car crashes, homecoming, a deadbeat dad, and a jealous ex, and you have an exciting romance that is bound to leave you craving more with each chapter!

I would rather be deaf, you are able to do more things rather than if you were blind.
i like how everyone's talking about the 10% thing and i'm over here wondering if she's screaming or not

I'm just saying how the hell is she talking to all these people if she's deaf, like is she reading their lips
Yes a 3 year old can be taught to lip read, iv been lip reading since a toddler/small child, children are very quick to pick up new things. A child will learn something new quicker than an adult because of how our brains work.
