A Different Virus - Heartfire (Book one in a...
It started as a small rumor in the middle east. The media rapidly trumpeted the discovery of a fever causing virus that sent 1 in 20 into a deadly coma. We had all seen this type of hype before and as long it remained in a remote location everyone mostly ignored it.
Then it mutated. At first everyone thought that the stories being spread on April 1st were a very elaborate April Fool's joke. By the next day no one was laughing as communication no longer came from several countries. Who could have possibly imagined that the dead would refuse to lie down?
Diane lived a quiet life in a rural town in Alberta, Canada. A worldwide zombie apocalypse was not something she expected. How were Diane and her friends going to evade tireless zombies that could move faster than they could walk?
Is it possible for humanity to survive and rebuild as the known world collapses around them?
The unknown has a habit of sneaking up on you when you least suspect it.
One thing is certain though, life will never be the same again.

I looked up and stared. My reflection looked back at me in the mirror of the dark room. My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a sapphire blue color, it was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow.
Glowing eyes were not normal.
Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal.
What was I then? For that, I had no answer.

This story is copyright and built from my own imagination.
The A Different Virus series has nothing to do with my other story The Virus Within.
The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. She did an awesome job!
I intended to create a 30 page short story, but it took on a life of its own and became a 300 page journey. Like any good novel the first 8 chapters are a bit slow, but then the fun begins.
