Tough Girls Wear Teal: A Decade-Long Journey...
IT CAME. SHE FOUGHT. IT DID NOT WIN. Starting with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome at the age of fourteen, Ren struggled through several years of chronic pain, underwent a hysterectomy at the age of 21, and worked for several more years to restore her physical, mental, and emotional health. This series of short personal essays takes the reader through Ren's journey with PCOS as she slowly worked toward a pain-free, beautiful life.
10% of all women are impacted by PCOS, but the condition continues to be underrepresented in areas of medical and public education and awareness. September is #PCOSAwareness month when tough girls proudly wear the teal #PCOS #Awareness ribbon. As more women speak up and speak out, they offer hope to others for healing, understanding, and a brighter future.
