In the 1950s, Eve Whitmore is a quiet girl who loves horror books and old films, unlike her rebellious friends. Wanting to do something she enjoyed, they convinced her to join them one Friday night to play a strange book game-said to summon a spirit that could truthfully answer any question or give you what you wish for. They bought the book from an old, strange woman near Hickory Bridge, treating it like harmless fun.

By the end of the night, all of her friends were dead except Eve. Found covered in blood, she was never charged, but forever suspected. Forced to move away with her neglectful mother, Eve tries to start over, only for her past to resurface. With the help of new friends and a boy determined to uncover the truth, Eve must face what really happened that night-and whether the game summoned something far more dangerous than anyone realized.
