Rhaya was the firstborn of Daemon Targaryen from his first disaster marriage with Rhea Royce, but the Rouge Prince never truly considered as such-not when she was the daughter of his "Bronze Bitch."

Even after the mysterious death of his wife, the Rouge Prince did not bother welcoming his daughter into his arms; instead, he wedded Laena Velaryon and moved out of the country to live in Pentos. Rhaya had no choice but to stay in Runestone with her cousin, Ser Gerold.
