The Lies We Tell [Prodigy Love Story]
I looked her in the eyes, not believing a word he'd said about her. Tears ran down her face as she tried to approach me, but they stopped her.
"Don't go near him, don't look at him, and don't talk to him when you're at school." I could tell by the tone of his voice that he wasn't kidding.
She tried pushing past them, but they held her back. "Why not?! I love him!"
If I'd had a heart, it would've sped up.
"I'll tell your father if you do. He's too dangerous, and he's a bad influence on you! Since you've started hanging around him, you've become a totally different person!"
"Because I'm not afraid of what I know anymore!" Their faces were identical masks of shock as she pushed around them and ran towards me. I caught her in my arms, holding her as close to me as I could.
She pressed her lips to mine, and everything around us fell apart.
