The opening of several warp gates heralded the arrival of several empires that were once confined to the realm of myth, each one eager to claim dominion over the Earth. Elven magic, Demonic strength and the mastery of divine power that the Angels possessed proved more than a match for humanity's technological ingenuity, and the true children of Gaea were pushed back, with resistance against the invaders mostly being concentrated on the islands that once constituted the nation of Japan, the last bastion of a dying race.
