Nayeli blinked a few times in silence, as if her mind was racing to catch up with his words. When she didn't respond, Steve tried to clarify for her apparent confusion.
"Uh...friends?"
Her mouth formed an o shape, seeming to understand. Nayeli was the most confusing person Steve had ever met, she was obviously smart with her high status in shield. But, she had no smarts when it came to social interaction.
"Okay, sure" Nayeli eventually said, "I won't hold it against you, people tend to avoid the unknown and scary. You did it, the government does it, that guy on the fourth floor with the receding hairline does it. Just don't act too patriotic around me and we'll get along, 'kay?"
And with that, Nayeli slammed her apartment door shut, leaving Steve staring at her star sticker.
If you asked Steve what he was more scared of, teenagers or another alien invasion he would reply another alien invasion. Before Natasha would chime in that it was most definitely teenagers.
So when eighteen year old Nayeli Dovebar joins SHIELD as a technical analyst, he goes to great lengths in avoiding the terrifying glitter obsessed fashionista. But, she catches on to his little predicament.

In this alternate universe, Loki is sent to Midgard after the fight over the Aether. The Avengers question the Allfather's sanity, but agree they would rather have Loki where they can keep an eye on him. So, after some extensive remodeling, the Avengers Tower and neighboring facilities are now an extensive training ground with everything they'll need to reform the once proud Asgardian prince. Thor is hopeful. He wants the brother he thought Loki was back. Clint (Hawkeye) is waiting for a reason to exact some much deserved revenge. Steve (Captain America) has hope that even the most hardened of evil doers can be changed for the better. No one quite knows what Natasha (Black Widow) is thinking. Tony (Iron Man) resents having to share his tower with a psychopath. Bruce (Hulk) did not fly away to Sakar. He's brooding away in his own private wing. Scott (Antman) is under house arrest... at the tower. Wanda (Scarlet Witch) is still mourning her brother while nurturing a still very naive Vision. (Neither are living in the tower. Will only play small, fleeting parts in this story.) Dr Strange refuses to move into the tower. After all, it is more important to keep up with his work at the Sanctum. Peter (Spiderman) is spending his summer at the Tower, much to the dismay of Aunt May, who knows how dangerous this is, but does not know Loki has returned. Sam (Falcon) will follow Cap to the ends of the earth, but refuses to jump off the proverbial bridge just because Cap's doing it. Bucky (Winter Soldier) is trying to atone for his past misdeeds, while learning what exactly they were, but is living in Wakanda with T-challa (Black Panther) so neither will be playing a large role in this story. Rescuing the fraile figure, they return to the jet victorious, only to find their rescue, is none other than Ana. She was barely conscious, and from clear signs, she was not there willingly. Taking her back to the tower, they try to help her, only to find that she has no memory of them, and now holding her own power. Thor wants nothing more than to destroy every single person who had hurt her, his need to protect her burning within him. The only comfort she finds is in his brother and the metal armed soldier, needing them both to protect her. ***** Being in a new place, surrounded by so many people, she felt overwhelmed, terrified that they would hurt her like the others.
