Javiero Abana, a young man whose known very little outside of running and street-smarts, wonders of life outside of it. He and his mother, Valentina, both illegal immigrants in the United States, had to run from their native home in Mexico in hopes of finding a better life in America after Javiero's father left one night and never came back. Javiero, still secretly on the hunt to find his father, trails alongside his mother as they race through the states in faith of attaining a stable home. But Javiero is becoming weary of all the running, the hiding, the fear. Alas, he thinks the terror of being an illegal immigrant will never end ... until he meets Alena.
Alena Morgan, daughter of the well-known New York millionaire, Joseph Morgan, is a smart girl and tough in her nature. Alena, a motherless child, always tried to channel what her mother could have given her by caring for others. She is well aware that the business her father runs is illegal and dangerous. He harbors illegal immigrants, giving them a home in exchange for easy labor. They'd never meant much to Alena, even as she helped care for them all and keep them hidden with her father, but a certain pair of golden brown eyes that catch her whenever she catches them, refuse to leave her mind.
