Previously, Tan Lan was handled, and Wangji and Wuxian were back home living as a family.
It was until Wangji's family was being targeted within his own sect. His son was attacked by a group of students and his daughter is facing discrimination due to her identity close to coming public.
Wangji promised to protect his family, but can he do it when people within his own sect that he grew up in, were starting to either betray his trust or make him question who to trust...even his own brother and uncle...are they on his side or are they going against him again and repeating past mistakes.
Wuxian now has connections and he plans to use them to protect his children. This corruption within the Lan Sect even could even jeopardize the relationship between him and Wangji.
Can they keep their love from breaking and falling into a world they once lived and promised to never go back to?
