Fountellion in THE SPIRAL: Greenwise & the Nature of the Game by Ademc77
45 parts Complete
A gateway to a long-awaited, always-online virtual island (an 'Autonomous World' or 'Permaworld') has opened for those who've found a key. This includes Dan Harvester, a guy who lives in a run-down apartment with his cat and runs a gaming channel. He's almost done playing and testing VR games, but this one could be his final chance to - truly - level up. What can it promise to him, and all its very first 'pioneers'? 'Fountellion'...is said to be 'natural' game-world, a N.E.P. world (Naturally-Evolving PermaWorld) full of artificial life that mimics the laws of our own natural world, with its shaping force of evolution. The game promises to be more than an open-world survival experience, for there are seven 'Insights' scattered and every player can find their own path to them. How much will Dan be changed, by his own search? A game-within-a-game or a simulated homage to the natural world? A complete vision of a 'metaverse' design which overgrows or salvages addicted players? There is only one way to find out: Tune in and experience Dan's 'avalogs'. For only by completing them and the fragments from the development, may you too discover the vision and legacy of 'Fountellion'... Notes: Please be aware this is speculative sci-fi, and includes outlines for an actual game-world within the story. The project is also decentralised and open source. Electronic Death Music (EDM: Harmonic Wasteland) by CharlesDillinger1
1 part Complete
The world was in shambles. Natural resources were scarce. Poverty, unemployment, and disease are rampant throughout the world. It is affected by the ubiquity of the technological scourge. All manual labor is performed by incessant iron muscles. Technology is the only source of employment and economic wellbeing for the modern world. Artificial intelligence is well developed, leading to the prevalence of automatons within our communities. These automatons have replaced their human counterparts not only within the manual labor market but also within careers requiring technical knowledge. Even skills that required the inventiveness and innovation of the human mind are replaced by the unrelenting efficiency of artificial intelligence. The over-supply of metallic citizens and the stagnant state of global economy made humans to ignore the arts. A dearth of trees due to over-pollution caused a scarcity of many musical instruments like pianos, guitars, flutes, and harps. The automatons have perfected only the soothing of the cerebral cortex with zirkanium levers and buttons. Their brand of music appeals to the areas in the brain associated with primitive instincts and pleasure. There is nothing intellectual about the automaton's melodic creation because it lacks the necessary human element. Homo sapiens are not perfect but they do create imperfectly. No music exists in this world, only Electronic Death Music.

In a distant future where humanity has abandoned Earth in favor of colonizing the entire universe, the dangerous job of piloting ships has been delegated to androids. When one of those pilots goes on a murderous rampage, it's set to be decommissioned by the Magnus-Barlowe corporation. Unfortunately, this AI is self-aware, and the engineer is an idiot. A scientist staging a prison break steals both a ship and the android to be its pilot, hoping to escape the claws of capitalism. An opportunity to do just that is presented when the mismatched crew is presented with a task: rescue the kidnapped daughter of a black-market salesman and be granted safe passage to a planet without a single MBC colony to bother them. Even though making deals with thieves is generally regarded as a bad idea, there doesn't really seem to be a choice for these wayward souls. With a crew made up of human and synthetic criminals, getting one measly kid from a space station full of scientists can't be too hard. Right? on hiatus
