She's the new girl, and everyone's obsessed with her. Perfect grades. Perfect looks. Perfect confidence. She doesn't need anyone, doesn't try to impress anyone. Guys want her, girls want to be her, and the whole school watches her like she's some kind of goddess.
𝐒𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫 was the definition of control. A quiet perfectionist, she lived her life by a strict schedule, keeping everyone at arm's length. Smart, composed, and flawless, no one could break through her walls. That is, until Nathan noticed her.
𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 was naturally brilliant, but unlike Sophia, he thrived in chaos. He didn't need to plan-he simply did what he wanted. And what he wanted was to push Sophia out of her controlled world. He liked the challenge, the fire he saw hidden beneath her cold exterior. Every time he teased her, every time he got close, he saw more of her untapped side-the part of her that was fierce and real.
But what Nathan didn't know was that every time he talked to her, he was making her life harder. Her carefully constructed world was unraveling, and at home, she paid the price for letting anyone in. The more Nathan pushed, the more Sophia distanced herself, and Nathan couldn't figure out why. The more he wanted to break through her walls, the more he found himself tangled in the mystery of why she always kept him at arm's length. Why she was 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱

[Book 2 in the Secret series]
"That's not what I meant..." I chew on my lip.
"Well, what the fuck did you mean then?" He shouts.
"When I'm there I don't have to think about you!" I yell back. Wrong choice of words again, Sophia. I curse myself.
His form immediately stands and he strides over to me, he is now inches away from me, his body is so close to mine that I am forced to take a couple of steps backwards. My back is pressed up against the window. Noah's breathing is deep but he speaks softly, "when you're there all I can think about is you." He raises his hand and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.
I step around him and head for the door, "uh I'm going to go to the hospital." I pick up my bag and rush out of the door leaving Noah in the room and saving myself from doing something I would definitely regret and make me change my mind about going back to Pennsylvania.
