"You seem to be really intelligent," she said, running her fingers over the spine of my book.
"More than you, I guess," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Then you must know the meaning of every word," she said.
"Not every word, but most of them," I replied.
"Do you know what manhoos (cursed) means?" she asked.
"Cursed," I repeated. "Where have you heard it?" I asked, curious-or maybe more concerned.
"My Dadi Ammi says I'm manhoos," she continued. Her eyes lost the sparkle they had a moment ago.
I was left speechless for a moment, wondering why a grandmother would say such a harsh word.
"It seems like you don't know either," she said, her voice laced with disappointment.
I stared at her face, and before I knew it, I blurted out, "Beautiful."
"Cursed means beautiful," I added hastily.

Small water drops fall on the ground which soon turns into a heavy rain, as if crying with the girl telling her they are with her, trying to give her some solace. The birds flew from there hearing loud wails filled with pain, crying at the poor souls fate. That night the angels returned to Allah with their heads bowed down in anger and hurt, crying for an innocent girl and cursing a particular man.
