When Rhaenys was younger, she would have laughed at the words of good Queen Alyssane when she said, "Daemon may be wild and unpredictable in many ways, but he has an incredible soft spot for little Rhaella."  when Rhaenys looked back at it, she cursed herself where she was so blind that she didn't see it either, he would have done anything for her. 

Whether that meant sneaking into town or the Dragon Pit, or flying to Driftmark every month just to see her for a few hours. She knew he would destroy people and burn cities for her. 

That was exactly the type of connection the two had.  

He was the wild force and she was the calm rock that kept him from losing his humanity.  Yet Rhaella also acquired a certain malevolent nature from Daemon that only became apparent in later years. 

Rhaenys could tell it was weak to expect Rhaella and Daemon to be stopped only by some marriage contract with Rhea Royce.

Laena agrees eagerly and eventually they head back to Laena's home. When they got there everyone watched as the princess they thought had died, walked past them. "Mother, father." Laena said, and her parents both look up and stare at their daughter who they thought, to be dead. "L-Laena. . ." Rhaenys stuttered. "Hi, mother." Laena said with a smile. "H-how are you alive?" Corlys asks. "My friend, Vendetta." Laena said as Vendetta walked in and stood next to Laena. "How can you do that?" Rhaenys asks. "I'm a demigod which means my father is Hades god of the underworld and my mother is human. I'm able to resurrect the dead." Vendetta answered before she felt someone hug her tightly. "Thank you." Rhaenys said with tears in her eyes.

"I overheard our parents talking." Aerion starts as they stop hugging and continue to walk the gardens. "About?" Laena asks. "They are thinking about betrothing us together." Aerion answered. "We have to convince them to betroth us. I can't imagine marrying someone else." Laena said. "Oh please, Aerion. Convince our parents." "I will try. But would you like to see Nyxondra?" Aerion asks. "Yes!" Laena said happily, as the two walk to the Dragon Pit. Up above on a balcony watching them was Rhaenyra.
