"Joey." Her voice sounded like a dream, something beautiful that wasn't of this world. This dirty, polluted world. He hated it. Nothing good came from being alive. Sometimes he just wanted to die, but no one would be able to handle another death. The loss of Steez fucked everyone up really badly, and even the thought of losing another so close to them... But nothing good came from being here.
"You're in one of your moods again." She says, softly, moving closer to him on the bed. He had begged her to stay with him last night because he was hurt. He was emotionally unstable and she was the only person who could really put up with him. Because she often put up with Steez. She was the closest thing to Steez, so when he left, she broke apart and it took her two years to be put back together.
Now she has to put him back together and he felt bad. He didn't want to be so dependent on her but he couldn't help it. She was the only connection to Steez he had left, and he needed that. Maybe that's why he loved her. Maybe it was because he could feel Steez in her.
