It's 1982 and Gene is on the front lines of love: retail at "Til Death Do Us Part", a computerized dating agency where the patrons know how they are going to die and hope to meet someone else before it happens. Like most shopping mall jobs of its day, it's a mix of boredom and politeness punctuated by flashes of genuine empathy. Not anymore. Gene's job is about to get a lot more interesting.
