Meet Kyle and Kate, two 15 year old students who have a gift for thinking fast, quick, and smart. Oh, and meet the other 18 kids in their class. Some call them genius, some call them annoying. PART 1 The year starts off bad enough, that is, with earthquakes and snowstorms. And finally, when things starts to clear up, the first murder occurs. Right in front of their eyes. It seemed obvious who did it, but as the murderer wrote her confession, a completely different murder occurs across town. Shocked, the police rush over to gather the evidence and clues, but before they even assemble their evidence, the police are led to another death. One by one, deaths occur around town, faster than the police can count. There's not much in common with all of the murders, only the fact that all of the victims come from one class. In the course on one year, the class of 18 shrinks drastically. PART 2 As summer vacation begins, the remains of the class split. Five students tell their stories of meeting new people, near death experiences, and funny incidences. PART 3 More than what meets the eye happened in the course of the summer. The class comes back to a new year, utterly shocked to find that 4 new students have joined their class. Everything starts out alright, but people are getting frantic. The government sent in spies to watch the class for suspicious behavior, two of them students themselves. Two other students are hired to try to figure things out on their own. See, I use my 'gift' in my work as a homicide detective with NOLA's finest boys in blue. Now, I understand why you might call it cheating, and that's fine. But I always catch the bad guy with the victim telling me everything I need to know and give the family involved closer. So it evens out as far as I can tell. This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room.
