This is a series of stories based on observations I have made while drinking coffee at Starbucks. Years of training as an investigator gives me little choice but to accidentally look into the lives of people I see. I don't do this so I can have something to write about. I do this because this is what I do. It just comes natural now. You would be surprised at the stories that are sitting right in front of you if you just knew what to look for.

This chapter is so sad. I love that you wrote this. Violence against women is such an important feminist issue. Heck, it's an important human issue. I love the empathy in this chapter. This was jarring and wonderfully written.

Made me cry on this one. Sometimes the terror of leaving is more than the terror of staying. Its a mental battle

Wow it's amazing what you can find out just from observing people. Great descriptions! 👍

Thanks Jen. This is such an important issue and many people don't understand how many women get caught up in a situation like this. It's so misunderstood.

I probably would have followed her and ended up bashed or something worse for my intervention.

I've often made observations on the train though.

I really hope she's okay. I really hope the whoever made her smiling will forever make her smiling and take her away.
