Toy Soldier (BoyxBoy/Yaoi)
**SEQUEL TO PUPPET**
My mother used to read me a story, about a toy soldier made of tin. He came from a large group of toy soldiers whom were all useful. Snipers, assassins, and the leader at the front, but this toy soldier was defective. He only had one leg. No one knew what happened to the other leg, maybe it broke off during battle, or maybe the careless children that played with him dropped him and it snapped. Either way, he was completely useless, so the child's parents put him up on a shelf so he wouldn't get in the way.
While living on the shelf collecting dust, the broken toy soldier could see everything in the playroom, including the shelf across from him. Sitting on that shelf was a beautiful porcelain dancer. She was the most amazing thing the toy soldier had ever seen, but like him, she was defective. One of her slender pale arms had broken off.
The tin soldier still thought she was perfect, and wanted nothing more than to meet her, but she was just so far away, and he was so high up. How would he make it to her with only one leg? The way the story goes, he did finally meet her, but only when the child's father melts him in the fire and uses the tin to fashion a new arm for his porcelain dancer. His life was sacrificed to give another more time.
In my life, I'm not even sure which part I play. Am I the tin soldier set aside because something is broken, gathering dust, and waiting to be melted down for someone else's purposes? Or am I the porcelain dancer, only kept around because I have a pretty face?
Either way I'm still broken, my paint chipping, pieces missing, still pushing forward, still struggling, still just a toy fighting for my right to survive. What a cruel world we live in...
