After Kion gives up the Roar and his duties as the Fiercest of the Lion Guard, he asks his teammates to accompany him to the Tree of Life so he can be with Queen Rani. However, Fuli sees this a betrayal and believes it undermines everything they have worked for.
After years apart, the Pridelands are on edge as a neighbouring Cheetah Coalition threatens a war with King Simba. Kion is forced to return to his homeland and sacrifice his happiness for the sake of peace. The one thing that can prevent a war is a betrothal between the Prideland Prince and the Cheetah Coalition Heiress.
