"You can take it to school but you won't get another if you loose it." "I know." "Don't let anyone borrow it." "Yeah." "Don't say anything mean with it." "Of course I won't." "Okay, you can go now. Don't talk to strangers on your way to school! Don't show off your phone, just use it!" "Yep!" ~~~~~~ Violet got her first phone when she was 18, for her birthday. Angela had one since fifth grade, Kayla got hers four years ago, a graduation present from 8th grade. Violet got hers a week ago, and she loves it. Even though she doesn't have many friends, she can still call her dad, who comes back once in a while from Florida to visit her as often as he can, which isn't very often. She thought she knew all the rules. Don't talk to strangers and don't take candy from them. Don't steal, don't say bad words, don't walk down dark alleys at night, and don't stay up too late on school nights. The main ones her mom set up that still apply to her, hanging on the fridge. She never thought they would be hard to follow, but everything changes when you can't see the face of who you're talking to.
