They have the same mother, but different dads (their mom died in her sleep suddenly when Penny was six months old and their dad died in a car accident when she was five and Peter was 8. For some reason Peter got to stay with Aunt May but Penny was placed with her dad's brother and wife. They abused her for eight years (physically and mentally). When Aunt May dies Tony gets government permission to be Penny's and Peter's legal guardian. The story starts when Penny go to live with Tony. She doesn't know Peter is Spiderman.
