The Maitland's are a normal family until they died from a car accident. They find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes and teen son Levi buys the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice, a rambunctious spirit whose "help" quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydian. 
 
Would they be able to get their home back or would they do things they might regret? Also what would happen if the Maitland's daughter catches the interests of the Deetzes's only son?
