Greek mythology. A retelling of the goddess Persephone's story.
Persephone is a young, beautiful but insecure goddess. Her father Zeus arranged her marriage to Hades, the god of the Underworld, but she refused to marry such an evil god. After being kidnapped, she finds that her father arranged that, too. Stuck in the Underworld, betrayed and lonely in a miserable marriage, she vows to get away...until she starts to realize her husband isn't so bad, after all. When escape is offered she accepts it, but realizes she is stuck forever in the Underworld...and isn't as upset as she should be. Her family is, however, and it seems like Persephone will never get a break.

Daughter of Hades
We all know the story of how Hades's kidnapped Persephone from her mother and his sister Demeter, brought her to the Underworld and tricked her by eating a Pomegranate that forces her to spend half the year in the Underworld with him. While Persephone may have been reluctant to be with the King of The Underworld at first, she slowly grew to love it and her husband. A retelling of the famous story of Hades and Persephone. Hades, the God of the Dead, Lord of the Underworld has everything he could ever want except for one thing. Love. Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, a controlling parent hell bent on keeping her daughter "safe" for all eternity, is constantly under the supervision and iron grip of her mother, and over time, it has created a spark of rebellion that yearns for freedom. Through a series of mistakes, clever planning and permission from Zeus, Hades and Persephone fall in love down in the Underworld. But this doesn't sit well with Demeter who is completely unwilling to except that her adult daughter isn't a baby anymore. And so as Zeus tries to reason with the love struck Hades and the psychotic and increasingly violent Demeter, things get more and more complicated as no one is seemingly ever satisfied with anything.Complete
The Curse of a Godess
"Kiss me." He whispers. "I-I don't know how...I've never done this before." I frantically whisper and tilt my head. My nose slightly brushes against his, and all of my instincts tell me to dive into him with the most passionate kiss I could create. I wanted to be closer, and feel every part of him against me. "Can I kiss you?" He asks through an intoxicating whisper. His lips teasingly hover over mine, and without thinking I finally press my lips against his. His lips matched mine perfectly like a puzzle, and I wrap my arms around his neck to pull him closer. His hands trail up my back, and the euphoric bursts of pleasure take my senses into over drive. He starts to part his lips, and his tongue slowly enters through my lips to play with mine. He tastes of sweet wine, and I feel my hands sliding up to grip his hair. I let out a slight moan into his lips, and my breath grows heavy. We part for a gasp of air before meeting back with more of my muffled moans. A faint thud-like sound catches my attention, and I start to pull away to see what made the sound. My lips retreat, and I take a faint breath before clearing my mind to think logically. As I pull away, his lips simply continue to kiss my chin and down my cheek. Another gasp slips from my lips, and this one echos through the hall. "I..I think...I...I heard something." I whisper as quietly as possible. He lightly pulls away to take a small breath before smiling. "I didn't hear anything. It's nothing." He pushes aside.... During the ancient times of Greece, lives the daughter of Demeter, Persephone. All her life has been sheltered from the mortal and immortal world. When her desire for a taste of freedom goes too far, she seals a deal with a man she will never escape... Enjoy this retelling of the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone! Flowers and Shadows
Hades and Persephone is a story that has so many different sides to it. Some people romanticize their relationship (often without taking into account certain aspects of the myth) while others insist that Hades was nothing but perverse and awful... even though taking Persephone, after having her father's permission, was quite normal for the time! This is a retelling of the ancient myth, with all the ancient components to it. I researched the story from many different sources and tried to make it as accurate as possible. The only writer's license was the amount of time she spent in the Underworld before Hermes came-- I never found an exact number, so I wrote it as six months, partly so that they had time to truly fall for each other, partly so that she would return to the mortal realm immediately after being returned to Demeter. Persephone is a character who understands the place goddesses and women have in the world, understands the normalcy of her capture, but still struggles with feeling like it's unjust. Hades is a god with few romantic relationships in his past (Leuce and Minthe) who hadn't fallen for anyone for a while and wasn't quite sure how to treat a goddess in a realm he never visited. When the Goddess of Spring had successfully escaped the Underworld, The King of the Dead was determined on finding her. In order for her to start a new life, Persephone changed her looks and created a mortal name; Jade Collins. Expecting she'd be far away from the King of the Underworld, she then met a gentleman with a miserable past of his fiancéé leaving him. His name you ask, Nicholas Barnes; Hades' mortal name. And so when fate gets twisted and undeniably confusing, the Goddess of Spring and the King of the Underworld were clueless about each other's real personality. Nevertheless, they fell in love with each other as a mortal. Will Hades know that the lady whom he'd been attached to, is the same lady as his queen whom he was finding? And Will Persephone know that the man whom she'd fallen inlove with, is the same man as his husband whom she loathed so much? Hades got me out of Algebra, which is a big deal. It does my head in. But, he kidnapped me and took me to the Underworld all because Persephone has faded away. And he's making me love him. After meeting gods and goddesses, finding my parents were dead then not dead, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love casting a spell over me, it turns out he's making me love him. So, naturally, I want freedom. Is that too much to ask?Complete
