Ballad of the Mountain Fox
Where to begin? I suppose you could say it all started with a desire for revenge, as many stories do. And that revenge bred more revenge, sprung from a simple misunderstanding.
Humans are too simple, if you ask me. No other species takes love so lightly--and so seriously.
Oh, don't get so offended. This happened quite a while ago, back in the Joseon Dynasty. You haven't heard of it? Well, anyway, high in the mountains of South Korea, there is a pass connecting Seoul to Busan, and long ago it was the only way to easily get from one city to the other. Rumor has it that the area is haunted and full of supernatural creatures--though in all honesty, I'd be more wary of the travelers than any otherworldly beings.
Now, back to this story of revenge...there was a curse, and a noble noble, a not-so-noble noble, a nobleman's daughter, and a not-nobleman's daughter. And me, of course.
Quite unfortunate that it involves me, actually. I've never really liked helping people.
