Alina Ortega lives a sheltered but simple life with her negligent mother. The girl has never been to school in the 17 years that she's been alive and has never had the means to. She has no idea who her father is but the parade of her mother's drunken, male clients trailing into her house are enough for her to know that men are nothing but trouble. After being thrown out onto the streets one night, she meets the one man who appears to actually be worth something. Damien Traviz, the wealthy and already engaged dean of a prestigious high school, is more than willing to help Alina but it becomes clear to them both that she wants a bit more than he is willing to offer.

I sometimes wonder why those unfortunate people don't just tell a teacher at school (if they go) but nonetheless, their situation is so horrible and I wish I could do something.

I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it but the fact that feel inclined to go to the next page says something, i don't normally like the ill treated child kind of book but this one seems to speak of actual issues

I always feel so selfish after thanksgiving.. I mean, we're over here feasting on huge amounts of food and then there's other countries that barely get a full meal a week.
