After the Earth has been struck by a nuclear explosion causing a genetic mutation, the survivors divided themselves according to what intelligence they belonged to. But when mankind completely lost humanity, how can Abigail fulfill her promise?

  *****

When a nuclear explosion called The Swept wiped half of the Earth's remaining population, those who survived then were exposed to a radiation. A radiation causing a genetic mutation in an individual's brain and altering its intellectual capacity resulting to an increase in Intelligence Quotient (IQ) level. However, years after the explosion happened, the decrease in fertility rate became visible. Due to this, numerous scientists searched everywhere and tried everything just to find a cure, but all they could ever find is an alternative way of reproduction. An inhumane way.

Born under the Natural District--one of the five districts of the Pentagon, Abigail Azarcon is an empathetic but reckless girl who believes that nothing is more important to this world other than humanity. Because of this, she's determined to enter Nucleus Academy and eager to fulfill her promise--to restore Earth's humanity especially empathy, and to prove that being humane is limitless. But how can she fulfill her promise if there are so many overwhelming obstacles blocking her way?

Apathetic people. Inhumane experiments. Mad scientists. And a strange organization.

Will she be able to fulfill her promise or will she break it and gave up on mankind?

It begins near the end, with a man intent on destruction, who feels most of his humanity has gone. As with so many others. Set in a future where almost all sentient life on earth no longer exists. Yet something remains. People continue to live as if nothing has changed, unaware that they are no more than copied memories running in an artificial substrate. In writing The Captured I've tried going some way to explore what defines sentience. And considered the following: Would a machine entity recognize the distinction between itself and biological life - if it could replicate thought and action? And if it could recreate the exact function of a living being what difference does it make whether as flesh or machine? But also this is a human story, though sometimes viewed from an alien perspective... Blurb: [Life is going well for Torbin. A successful career, a happy marriage. Then something strange happens ... and again. So he begins to wonder: has it all been a lie? There is someone who claims to have the answers, a man returned from the past - from the dead. Only it seems someone else wants the truth to remain hidden. An alien visits Earth to study its people. Disguised as a human, her involvement goes far beyond mere observation. She becomes embroiled in a struggle to save what remains of humanity. But already a machine intelligence has transformed Earth into an unrecognisable world, and continues to spread ceaselessly across the galaxy. Yet there is one way to stop them, a weapon held by an old enemy that could itself wipe out all sentient life. There are those who believe they can survive the ultimate destruction. But at what cost?]

But I built it, like everything in our home. Where was I? Oh yes. Puppets. These Puppets are actually the reason I'm recording this. Their Expansion Decree, along with other decrees, are going to wreck my life. I'll explain about it later in the recording for anyone who listens to this and doesn't know what I'm talking about. Point is, I need to save my family. That's why I'm recording this. If my tech works, we will be together forever. Sadly, it needs time to charge... I know, buzzkill. It should... ready... work... 29... * * * END OF TRANSMISSION*** ***************** I've had most things in my life going right for me. The earth is still recovering from the third world war. Resources are controlled by the Elites and the environment is polluted and many countries are damaged beyond repair. The population that survived the war has been ravaged by chemical weapons. The genders are out of balance. For over sixty years the birth rate of female babies has far outweighed their male counterparts. Martha chooses to go against the wishes of her family. She will spend the rest of her life taking care of her widowed Father as opposed to working and giving all her money to her younger female cousins to supplement their dowry. These chips called DEC, as Contained electrical current, it's an electronic chip that looks like a silver dot, these chips allowing The Law and any actual law enforcement to be able to track everyone. The end of animals, most of nature, technology and everything that advanced in between. After Earth's destruction a new life began with the survivors of the near extinction of humanity. 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

Maxine is an 18-year-old girl who is bored and lonely, living in California in the year 2351. She's always been fascinated with how humans used to live in houses, drive cars, and the fact that there used to be forests and parks everywhere. Now, after a war that nearly erased humanity, people are forced to live a strict, dull, communist lifestyle. Everyone seems okay with this way of life. Everyone except Maxine. Maxine had always been special; she was often able to predict events. How? She didn't exactly know...yet. When she starts having dreams about a tropical island where people live as they did in the 21st century, she meets the man of her dreams: literally. Her new boiling emotions bring her to wonder...what if it's a real place? When she starts her search for the island and bumps into Elis-the man in her dreams-she suddenly knows it wasn't all just a making of her imagination. Finding that island could mean finding the answers to her burning questions, and maybe even answers to questions she didn't know she had. However, not everything is what she thought it would be when she finally finds the island, and her dreams become a harsh reality. Elis turns out to be someone else, and when another man swoops in every time Maxine is in danger, she becomes confused about what love really is. The Advisors, the ten women governing the world, want to assimilate the people of the island, not knowing that those people have an extreme advantage over them. Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.
