Cora McKee is a sarcastic, blunt and determined 19 year-old college student at the best pre-law university in the country, Fraser-William's University. She has wanted to go into the field for as long as she can remember, but her intentions, regarding why she wants to, have drastically changed over the past 3 years. But the reason for this is a secret. It's the same reason why she can't fathom the thought of someone loving her for who she is, and only for that reason, even if they flat out told her. Or why she doesn't talk about her background.

And then there's 21 year-old Alexander Cassidy, son of Robert Cassidy, the speaker of the house and arguably the most influential politician in the country, save for the president. Alexander is the most sought-out bachelor of D.C.'s young elite. He's got it all. Intelligent, flirty, funny, mature and romantic, along with a successful modeling career, that he pays for his 2 story penthouse with. He could get practically any girl at FWU. But he's only got eyes for one.

She's independent, has an attitude, smart as hell, and doesn't take shit, from anyone. And she doesn't play hard to get, she just IS hard to get. After Jack, Cora's ex boyfriend and one of Alexander's closest friends, cheated on her, she decided she was done with their friend group and broke contact with them for months. But now that school is starting again, Alexander can finally have an excuse to spend more time with her. And he does. Rumors spread fast in the capital, even when it comes to two young adults. So what makes them so special? They have secrets. Big ones. And if they're let out... chaos will ensue.

And Cora has her own struggles to battle. From feeling alone for as long as she can remember, what will happen when Alexander tries to tear down her walls and help her? Will she push him away? Will she embrace him?
