All young Merfolk listen to the Elder's stories-- legends, you might call them-- about humans. We learn never to trust the vile beasts that inhabit the land, to not even be in close proximity with them... But most of all, to never be seen by one.
On my fourteenth birthday my life was changed forever; I was playing around a human shipwreck, but ended up getting tangled in fishing nets. Hours later, I was freed from the trash by a human Marine Animal Rescue team. Deciding that I needed to be rehabilitated, the humans trucked me to their home base for sick and injured sea creatures--- SeaWorld, Orlando.
Weeks later, I was completely healed, but much to my surprise, I wasn't released... Am I doomed to spend the rest of my life in captivity? Or will I be able to escape the greedy creatures who rule here?
This is MY side of the story.
