As countless before her had done, a young lady looked up at the stars, and wondered if we were alone. It turns out that life in our galaxy is extremely rare. There have only ever been two instances. A hundred thousand years ago, a young man on a planet on the opposite side of the galaxy had also looked up and wondered. His civilization had scanned every know star, and found only one other planet with an oxygen atmosphere. Before their sun went nova, they had built a single spaceship for a lone passenger. It meant leaving everything and everyone he knew behind. But it was a tiny chance to find someone in the galaxy to know of the great culture and knowledge that had once existed, and was now gone without a trace. It was a long and lonely journey, to the oxygen planet.

As star-faring nations scramble to unravel the mystery, tensions rise, alliances fracture, and the race to uncover the truth begins. But in the depths of the cosmos, beyond the reach of human understanding, something stirs. Ancient ruins whisper of lost empires. Unseen forces bend the very fabric of reality. And lurking in the void, an enemy waits-an anomaly so vast, so consuming, that it threatens to unravel existence itself. In order to embark on a mission to discover alien life on the icy moon of Jupiter Maria must leave her life on Earth behind, including her father and her seven-year-old son Diego. She thought the hardest part of the mission would be saying goodbye, but little does she know what awaits her and her crew on Europa, an environment that has never been explored from the surface until this mission. Perhaps alien life was never meant to be explored by humans... Will she fulfill her promise to her father and son to make it home alive, or will she fail to make good on that promise like her mother did when she was a little girl? Note: This story was written during a challenge to write an entire book in one week!
