Roger keeps losing things.
His dad loses his hardware store. His family loses their house. Then Roger's girlfriend breaks up with him right before senior year starts--the Heartbreak to End All Heartbreaks.
Things haven't been going great for Aanya either. Small-town Stoneport in northern Massachusetts is nothing like the big city where Aanya grew up. When someone writes "GO HOME" on Aanya's locker on the first day of school, Roger realizes she needs help.
Roger offers to pretend to be Aanya's boyfriend to keep her out of trouble, figuring it might be a good way to keep his mind off The Heartbreak. Besides, Aanya's a beautiful girl, and someone's got to look out for her, right? As the Captain of the Varsity baseball team, Roger figures he's got it covered.
But when threatening messages turn into actions, Roger is forced to question everything he knows about his hometown. He must figure out the best way to keep Aanya safe, even as he realizes he might get his heart broken all over again.
