Scout Steele is running. And she isn't going to stop doing so. She needs to keep her baby boy, Luca, safe. She needs to keep herself safe, too. She leaves her home in New York and finds herself in Lily Lake, Tennessee. It's rundown and empty. The population is all country folk and hard workers. With a broken down vehicle and no money, she has no choice but to stay in town for awhile. A diner owning family takes her in. Scout meets the son of the owner, Nicholas Ryder. He's bold and outgoing. However, he doesn't talk much to her at first. The two begin to spend some time together, sharing small words full of meaning. Nick realizes he may actually like the quiet, sweet girl that appeared into his life. He gets the urge to protect her. And Scout will need any protection she can get when her past catches up to her.
