Angel Donovan survived the Civil War, Sherman's invasion of the South, and years of humiliation singing in saloons, but even though she has left her past behind, the memory of it still clings to her like a stain. Volunteering as a housekeeper at the O'Connor homestead seems like a perfect way to escape the whispers surrounding her, but when she arrives she finds things are more complicated than she bargained for.

A former Confederate soldier falsely accused of murder, Aidan O'Connor's reputation and size have caused most of the people in Sweetwater to steer clear of him, but when his brother dies, Aidan finds himself unexpectedly saddled with his niece and nephew, who have no one else. Hiring Angel as housekeeper only makes things more complicated--especially when Aidan starts falling for her.

Can Angel let go of her past and fall in love? And will Aidan be able to prove himself to his newfound family?

I've noticed that several names on this story are Irish: Aidan O'Connor, Donovan, and McClellan. I'm a big fan of Irish/Celtic heritage and this story has really caught my attention. Great job so far!

Two spools of thread were a $1.05, whereas flour, peas, sugar, and premade trousers, shirts and dresses ALL TOGETHER were $4.25. I'll admit that I haven't done the research, but it seems there would've been more of a price difference.
