As a solitary creature, it wasn't surprising for her to not receive the proper love and care humans naturally give their own; and when she is left an exiled young werepuma after a tragedy had befallen on her people, the world seemed to have collapsed all around her.

Assured to be hunted down and killed for her supposed treachery, River Everleap had been spending the remainder of her days empty and completely lost in the suffocating fog of her memories - and after a long time travelling, River finds the perfect place to rest and await her promised death.

However, when River comes across an unconscious human girl in the woods, who seems to have a special destiny about her, River didn't then comprehend how her life seemed to have truly begun and how her path to the three most dangerous vampires in the world had officially been set in stone.
