Known for being cursed by a mysterious fate, seven benders were gathered from all over the Human Realm each year and banished to Beiyiqi, Institute of the Forsaken.
What happened on the island of Beiyiqi was unbeknownst to the Outside World as those with Forsaken gifts would disappear in the mists of the seas, those who were not welcome on the island of the Forsaken would never be able to find it. Once the Forsaken set out for Beiyiqi, they were never heard from again.
Emmeleia Dawa was born with the gift of a familiar in the Year of the Dragon, eighteen years ago. She'd watched the years tick by and now the Lunar New Year had passed, the day had come that she'd dreaded for so many years.
Having to leave behind everything she'd ever known, she travelled to Beiyiqi with her friend Li Gyatso, who was also born with a gift, to embark on their new normal.
